Tv24 Desk: British American Tobacco Bangladesh (BAT Bangladesh) received 1st prize for the ‘Best Published Annual Report 2019’ under Manufacturing category at the 20th ICAB National Award Ceremony. The company also won the prestigious Certificate of Merit Award for Corporate Governance Disclosures in the ceremony.
Mr. Shehzad Munim, Managing Director and Ms. Mubina Asaf, Head of Legal and External Affairs of BAT Bangladesh received the awards from the chief guest Mr. Tipu Munshi, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Commerce at an Award ceremony, recently held at Sonargaon Hotel in the capital. The awards are a true testament to BAT Bangladesh’s continuous drive for excellence in playing a leading role in Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) practices.
On the occasion Mr. Jafar Uddin, Secretary, Ministry of commerce and Dr. Md. Hamid Ullah Bhuiyan, Chairman, Financial Reporting Council (FRC) were present as special guest. Among others, Khaled Rahman, Corporate Finance Controller, BAT Bangladesh; Muhammad Farooq (FCA), President, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and leading industrial entrepreneurs, businessmen and economists were present on the occasion.
According to the organizer, the annual report is one of the means of evaluating the transparency and accountability of an organization. One of their specialized committees- the Review Committee for Published Accounts & Reports (RCPAR), evaluated the annual reports of all the leading companies of the country and nominated BAT Bangladesh for the prestigious award.
